.:: Know the Jewish Feasts ::.
Israel celebrates seven major feasts as detailed in the Scriptures. |
-- Purim -- The Feast of Esther - Purim is a special celebration of God's preservation of the Jewish people. It is also known as the Feast of Esther (the story is found in the book of Esther, chapters 1-10). Download pdf How to Celebrate Purim |
-- Passover -- Modern-day Passover is an eight-day celebration that commemorates the deliverance of the Children of Israel out of Egypt. It actually includes three of the Feasts of the Lord: Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread and Feast of First Fruits. During the time of Jesus, this eight-day period was called the Feast of Unleavened Bread. (Mark 14:12). Download pdf |
-- Shavuot -- Shavuot, the Feast of Weeks, or Pentecost is the celebration of two
important events: 1.) Thanksgiving for the spring harvest 2.) The giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai
The Feast of Weeks is also known as Pentecost, a day of celebration of the Spring
harvest and the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. The Ten Commandments are read in synagogues to reaffirm the convenant with God and His Torah. The Book of Ruth is also read. For Christians, this is a celebration of yet another feast fulfillment by Jesus Christ (Acts 2:1-4). This is the day on which God sent His Holy Spirit, and Peter stood and preached
on this promise. It is the birthday of His church. Download pdf

-- Rosh Hashannah -- Rosh Hashannah is also known as the Jewish New Year. Leviticus 23 :24
refers to this feast as the Feast of Trumpets. Jews believe that this
is the day that the Lord annually opens the Book of Life and inscribes
in it the names of the righteous granting them blessing and life for the
next year. The blowing of trumpets and names in the Book of Life are
symbols that might represent the rapture of the Bride of Christ. (I
Thessalonians 4:13-18) Download pdf |
-- Days of Awe -- Days of Awe are the days between Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur. These
are days of seeking God for forgiveness and making sure that by Yom
Kippur all is reconciled between you and other and you and God. These
days are considered to be very serious and could be a picture of the
days of tribulation - God dealing in a very serious way with mankind.

-- Yom Kippur -- Yom Kippur is the holiest day on the Hebrew calendar. It is the day of
final atonement when the high priest took the blood of a goat into the
Holy of Holies and put it on the Mercy Seat to make atonement for the
sins of Israel. Jews are commanded in Leviticus 23:31-32 to fast and
observe the day as a Sabbath. The symbolism of Yom Kippur is a picture
of the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ Download pdf

.:: Ariel - FBC's Adopted Community in Israel ::.
Ariel lies in the mountains of Samaria in the heart of Israel. Today, there are 18,000 people who will in Ariel and with the city’s high quality of life, Ariel is expected to continue to attract not only new immigrants but also native-born Israelis. FBC adopted this community in 1995 as a way showing our love and support for their courageous stand of living in biblical Samaria. We support Ariel in several ways including helping fund the Child Development Center that provides services for children with special needs, the Brenda Wygant Memorial Scholarship that is awarded to a student in Ariel that has completed his or her military duty and exhibits a desire to contribute to the Zionist ideal of Israel and other humanitarian efforts. For more information on Ariel click here. |
.:: International Dancers and Singers ::.
The International Singers and Dancers are part of our Israel Outreach. This group travels to Israel every year with a program of Hebrew songs and Israeli dances designed to send a message of unconditional love and support for Israel. In addition, the Internationals perform at our annual Israel Awareness Day and occasionally at other events during the year. One of the Scriptures that lies at the heart of this ministry is Genesis 12:3 where God is speaking to Abraham concerning his descendants: "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all the peoples of the earth will be blessed through you." Our mission is to bless the Jewish people by allowing God's love for them to shine through us.
