Meet Pastor George Morrison
George Morrison is the senior pastor of Faith Bible Chapel, a 4500 member, non-denominational church in Arvada; a city located northwest of Denver, Colorado. The church has two different campuses which host a Saturday night service, Sunday morning services, a Spanish-only speaking Sunday service and a traditional Wednesday night service, along with multiple children and adult classes. Sister churches have been planted and are also located in Colorado. The church organization includes Faith Christian Academy, a kindergarten through 12th grade school with over 1,000 students, and a Bible school for part-time students. In addition, Faith Bible Chapel serves the community through the Sonshine Center, which is a day care and pre-school.
Together with his wife, Cheryl, Pastor Morrison is a leader in the Denver-metro area for supporting Jewish people and the nation of Israel. Together they support and lead numerous interfaith pro-Israel rallies, as well as host an annual Israel Awareness Day – an educational, inspirational, and motivational series of performances, programs, and music designed to bring community awareness to Israel-related issues. For more than two decades, Faith Bible Chapel has been sending The International Singers and Dancers, a performing group that travels to Israel, to demonstrate unconditional love to military and civilian Israelis.
Pastor Morrison was born and raised in Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school in 1965, he attended Thaddeus Stevens Technical College. In 1968 Pastor Morrison joined the Marines and was sent to South Vietnam in 1969. While there he was stationed at Quang-tri were he served as crew chief for a OV-10A Bronco Aircraft as well as a door gunner in a UH1E helicopter and earned his combat air crew wings. He returned from his tour of duty at the end of 1969 and moved to Colorado in 1972.
After trying many things in search for life’s meaning, Pastor Morrison had a dramatic conversion experience with Jesus Christ in 1971. This change gave him a new direction, and from that time forward, he became actively involved in pursuing God’s will for his life. After meeting and marrying his wife, Cheryl, in 1972, he graduated from FBC’s Bible College in 1974, later becoming a teacher and director of the college. In his earlier years of ministry, he and his wife, Cheryl, served as house parents for a youth home of 32 young people who desired discipleship. Pastor Morrison was ordained in 1975, and served as an associate pastor at Faith Bible Chapel until 1984 when he assumed the responsibility of Senior Pastor.
In 1990, Pastor Morrison returned to South Vietnam with an organization called “Vets With A Mission.” The men took much needed medical supplies into various villages and also worked in some of the orphanages while they were there.
Over the years God has used Pastor Morrison to minister to pastors and church leaders. He has spoken at numerous leadership conferences both in the United States and overseas, including Promise Keepers events, and is the author of the book entitled, If It’s Not Broken, Break It! He also serves on the Executive Board of Christians United for Israel.
